Donald Trump crucified. In the center of Basel, near a pedestrian zone, a sculpture depicting the American President dressed in an orange suit, tied to a white cross, has been installed.
From the appearance, it appears that the installation is placed on a table, awaiting a lethal injection, while the crucifixion is similar to that of a saint.
The work titled "Saints or Sinners" was created by British artist Mason Storm and has caused quite a stir.
The installation was presented by the Zug-based gallery Gleis 4. The gallery had originally planned to exhibit the sculpture at Basel's SBB train station, but later decided to change the location for security reasons and to avoid potential overcrowding problems.
The new location was chosen in the Basler Kunstmeile exhibition space, located in the heart of the city. The work will be accessible to the public starting Saturday and will remain on display for two weeks.
The debate is heated online. Trump supporters have criticized the installation, but many Swiss citizens consider it excessive. Interviewed by "20 Minuten", several residents said the idea "goes too far."
