US President Donald Trump has reacted after Zohran Mamdani won the election in New York, becoming the city's first Muslim mayor.
In a post on Truth, however, he stated that the Republicans lost the election due to the fact that Donald Trump himself was not on the ballot.
"Trump's absence from the ballot and the government shutdown were the two reasons why Republicans lost the election tonight, according to the pollsters," Donald Trump wrote in Truth, commenting on the outcome of the key US election.
Former President Barack Obama also reacted after the result, congratulating the Democrats on their victory.
"Congratulations to all the Democratic candidates who won tonight. It's a reminder that when we unite around strong, visionary leaders who care about the issues that matter, we can win. We still have a lot of work to do, but the future looks a little brighter," Barack Obama commented on the US election result on X.
