Ukraine and the US have refined the original peace plan proposed by the Americans into a 20-point plan, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared at a press conference in Dublin a short while ago.
He said the initial proposal was narrowed from 28 to 20 points in Geneva and "finalized" during talks last weekend in Florida.
" Some things still need to be clarified. This marks one of the most challenging and yet optimistic moments at the same time for peace in Ukraine. Now more than ever there is a chance to end this war ," Zelensky said.
He also spoke about today's meeting in the Kremlin, where Donald Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will discuss the US-Ukraine peace plan with Vladimir Putin. Zelensky said he expects communication from the American team immediately after their meeting with Putin and other Kremlin officials.
" I am prepared to support all signals [that bring the end of the war] closer, I am prepared to meet with President Trump. Everything depends on today's talks ," Zelensky stressed.
Addressing the nature of a future peace, Volodymyr Zelensky has called for a peace plan that is open and fair and not discussed behind Ukraine's back.
"Ukraine will also need to understand what future security guarantees will look like and how they will work. We need to stop the war in such a way that, within a year, Russia does not return with the third invasion in ten years. We are grateful to the US for the fact that they are prepared to be a security guarantor, but we want to understand this. Security for the Ukrainian people is what we need ," Zelensky said.
Finally, Zelensky shared some more details about the revised U.S.-Ukraine peace plan. He said he was not ready to share "all the points of the plan," but explained what the three most sensitive topics and the most difficult questions and challenges of the discussions were.
Three topics of discussion:
1-Territorial concessions
2-Use of frozen Russian assets.
3- Coalition of the willing.
Zelensky also added that he was open to continuing talks with Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff.
" If I think we can count on real and specific dialogue, not just words, we will meet and he is very welcome in Ukraine ," Zelensky said, adding that this is likely not going to happen in the coming days.
The president said he would react to the US talks in the Kremlin tonight "according to the results"./ Pamphlet
