Russian military aircraft have carried out a scheduled flight over neutral waters in northern Europe, according to local media.
Russian state news agency RIA, citing the country's defense ministry, reported that Russian Tu-22M3 long-range bombers patrolled over the Baltic Sea, which has coastlines with NATO members including Germany, Sweden and Poland.
The Russian ministry added that fighter jets from "foreign countries" accompanied the bombers at various stages of the flight.
The move comes just days after the Royal Navy said one of its destroyers intercepted and monitored a Russian warship as it sailed through UK waters in the North Sea and English Channel.
