Facebook has suffered a widespread service outage, which affected the main app, the official website, and Facebook Messenger.
Users were automatically logged out of their accounts and were unable to log back in. The platform displayed an error message stating that “an unexpected error” had occurred.
Facebook's home page also displayed a similar notification. Visitors read the message "something went wrong," while the company stated that it was working to resolve the problem as soon as possible.
Other Meta services, such as Instagram and WhatsApp, remained largely online, although some products, including the Instagram website, also experienced problems.
Meta does not have an official status page for its consumer products. The company does have one for its business tools, but at the time of publication it did not reflect the outage.
According to Downdetector, a platform that monitors online service outages, its own website also experienced problems at the same time. It was not clear if this was related to the Facebook outage.
