Iranian state media reported that Tehran and Washington are considering a possible preliminary agreement, but Iranian authorities have not yet made a final decision on its text.
The reports come after US President Donald Trump stated that discussions have reached an advanced stage.
"The discussions and final points, both in concept and in major details, have been approved by all parties involved ," Trump said.
However, according to Iranian state media, there are still issues that require consideration by relevant institutions in Iran.
"A final decision has not yet been made; the relevant authorities of the system must reach a conclusion on every detail of the text and every possible meaning ," the report said.
Iranian media also emphasized that it is not clear where talks between the parties are currently taking place.
In a separate report, Iranian state media dismissed as untrue claims that an agreement could be signed on Sunday in Geneva. Citing an informed source, the report stressed that the review and decision-making process in Iran has not yet been completed.
" Basically, the review and decision-making process in Iran has not yet been finalized, and therefore both Sunday's announcement and the Geneva location are completely denied ," the source was quoted as saying.
Iranian state media reports provide Tehran's view of the ongoing negotiations, as the parties continue discussions on a possible deal.
