The VLEN coalition candidate for mayor of Tetovo, Bilall Kasami, is ahead of the National Alliance for Integration (AKI) opponent, Bajram Rexhepi, according to data provided by the VLEN election headquarters.
Kasami is currently leading by a margin of around 3,000 votes in the first round of local elections. The results are still unofficial and awaiting confirmation from the State Election Commission (SEC), but VLEN is optimistic that this lead will be maintained until the end of the counting.
This result is a slap in the face to Ali Ahmeti, who has Tetovo as his base.
