The crackdown on the mafia group involved in drug smuggling, filling hospitals, pharmacies and reimbursement lists with expired drugs, and which, through connections with the political mafia, has penetrated parliament and diplomacy, has begun.
We are talking about the DP MP for Shkodra, Kliti Hoti, who has been charged by Albanian and international anti-crime agencies for involvement in smuggling, trading in expired medicines, money laundering and tax evasion.
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has removed the mandate of "Honorary Consul" of Hungary in Albania from MP Kliti Hoti.
On the website of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the name of smuggler MP Kliti Hoti has been removed from the list of diplomatic representations as "Honorary Consul", but also from the official diplomatic protocol of the Hungarian Embassy in Tirana.
After the removal of the mandate, the "Honorary Consul" representation of Hungary in Albania is held by Edvin Libohova with a representative office in Vlora and Armand Duka with a representative office in Durrës.
Two smuggling cases also in the SPAK file, as an accomplice to Ilir Beqje
The name of MP Kliti Hoti and the "Novartis" company, Albania branch, which he headed, has come up in two cases of smuggling expired drugs: once at the Port of Durres on December 10, 2021 and in Rinas on December 17, 2024, but he was not touched by justice.
In June 2025, the leaders of the company "Novartis", based in Basel, Switzerland, dismissed Kliti Hoti from his position as its representative in Albania.
According to the information, he was fired with the motivation of harming the commercial reputation of the "parent" company, because he was involved in smuggling, money laundering, corruption affairs with drugs and connections with "Non grata" businessman Tom Doshi in criminal activity with drugs.
According to SPAK documents, the smuggler and DP MP Kliti Hoti has also appeared in the file of former Health Minister Ilir Beqja for fraud with medicine tenders, fiscal fraud and money laundering, using his brother-in-law Dorjan Sadiku, a partner in the medicine companies "Delta Holding", "Sadiku Investments", "Bondes Holding" and "Farmaci Ditë-Natë".
"Honorary Consul" mandate, a channel for international bargaining
In addition to smuggling, Kliti Hoti has used his status as "Honorary Consul" of Hungary in Albania for another profitable scheme: offering scholarships and work permits for Albanian citizens in Hungary, France, Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, Switzerland and Sweden.
According to the data, he carried out this activity with the help of former Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka, disguising it as a cooperation agreement, but in reality Kliti Hoti received large payments informally, or more precisely, for human trafficking activities.
His brother-in-law Dorian Sadiku, also a drug smuggler and fiscal fraudster along with him, continues to be Portugal's "Honorary Consul" in Albania, mandated by former minister Olta Xhaçka, with whose husband he runs a drug import and trade business./ Pamphlet

Duhet te jesh vet shume i paster, qe te aludosh lajme per nje doktor te nderuar (familje doktoresh) si Z. Hoti. Eshte doktor dhe biznesmen i sukseshem por hyrja ne politike (deputet i PD qe ne 2025) ka koston e vet qe ne kete rast eshte e pa merituar per mua. Une jam votues i majte por kam kete qendrim per te. Me keto lajme, po i beni shume dem vendit tone, njerzit e punes dhe profesionistet duhet te lihen te lire dhe te mos gjobiten, ca nga politika, ca nga media apo nga dore te zeza.
