A physical connecting structure is being built between the premises of the National Bureau of Investigation and the Special Prosecution Office, while in parallel plans are being developed to strengthen investigative capacities within the BKH.
The bridge that will unite the two institutions is still under construction and aims to create a functional connection between them.
At the same time, the SPAK annual report highlights the proposal to establish an operational force within the BKH, which will have the ability to conduct surveillance and infiltrations in secret investigations.
This initiative is related to the aim of increasing the autonomy of BKH investigators, who currently continue to rely on the State Police for some processes since the institution's creation. Through this new structure, the aim is to limit the flow of information during investigative operations and expand capacities in the field.
The proposal comes at a time when SPAK has identified cases of deconsecration of actions, which have contributed to their failure. According to the institution's assessment, the creation of a dedicated unit within the structure will increase control over information and develop investigation methods.
Since its establishment on the FBI model, the BKH has taken on expanded responsibilities, including the administration of wiretaps and, more recently, a unit with a preventive function. However, the risk assessment unit is still not functional.
In terms of procedure, the interrogation rooms are equipped with camera and audio recording systems, in order to fully document and monitor the statements of witnesses and persons involved in the investigations.
