Cases of "smishing"/Alarm for fraudulent SMS in the name of the Albanian Post are increasing

The Cybercrime Investigation Directorate of the State Police warned citizens on April 6 to be careful of fraudulent messages that are circulating massively in Albania via SMS and that appear as notifications from the Albanian Post for undelivered postal packages.

The Albanian Post itself reacted to these messages with an official statement, stating that these SMS are in no way related to official postal services.

"The Albanian Post informs the public that in recent days fraudulent messages (SMS) have been circulating that illegally use the name of our institution, with the aim of deceiving citizens and obtaining their personal or banking data," the Albanian Post announcement reads.

This is not the first time that the Albanian Post institution has become the target of such fraudulent attacks and campaigns with fake SMS, which have been repeated several times in recent years.

These attacks are otherwise known as "smishing" and consist of attempts that aim, through messages formulated as trustworthy, to "fish" citizens and penetrate their sensitive data through links attached to the message.

After citizens click on these links, they are asked to enter their bank card details or personal information.

According to digital experts, these attacks are usually malicious and come from unidentified actors who have the intention of financial gain or stealing someone's identity.

SPAK Prosecutor Reveals Fraud/How Criminal Call Centers Lie to Albanians and Europeans

SPAK's investigations have highlighted the functioning of two types of call centers, some of which operate on the border between legal and criminal activity.

In an interview with "Exclusive", special prosecutor Ened Nakuçi explained that some of these structures are registered and operate as businesses, but in parallel they are also involved in fraud.

"In our work experience, it turns out that some of them were legal and were registered with the relevant offices, but along with that they also commit computer fraud against European citizens. The other typology is without being registered with the tax authorities, without being reported," he said.

According to investigations, these networks involved citizens from various countries, including Albanians, Israelis, Italians and Ukrainians, indicating the international nature of the activity.

Information technology expert, Florenc Hidri, emphasizes that these are organized criminal structures and not simply traditional call centers.

"Gas explosions are not a coincidence"/ Experts: Unsafe cylinders are endangering lives!

Events such as the explosion that occurred a few days ago in a business in Lezha, which was severely damaged by gas, are not isolated cases. The use of liquefied gas for heating or cooking continues to be a source of danger if safety rules are not respected.

Unlike ordinary fires, incidents caused by gas leaks escalate in a matter of seconds and often have serious consequences.

Security expert, Shkëlqim Goxhaj, emphasizes the importance of using safe equipment and avoiding dangerous practices.

He warns especially about orange canisters: "They are camping canisters and should not be refilled because they do not offer safety."

In the case of businesses, gas storage should be done outside the premises and at a safe distance. Also, ventilating the premises before starting work is an essential step to avoid risks.

However, compared to previous years, the number of incidents caused by gas has decreased, indicating an increase in citizen awareness of its safe use.

Elections in Hungary/Kokalari: Only I can defeat Edi Rama, I am like a Magyar

Evi Kokalari, the Albanian-American activist, who has expressed her desire to run for the position of leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, but has not yet received a response from this party whether or not she will be allowed to enter the race, has drawn a parallel between herself and Peter Magyar, the leader of Tisza, the party that won the elections in Hungary.

Kokalari says she is the only one who can win the elections and defeat both Edi Rama and Sali Berisha. She writes in a post on social media that she has spared no one when it comes to exposing corruption, including those who I once had friends with in the US and who I still face.
