Denar Biba has withdrawn from the race for Holta Zaçaj's vacant seat on the Constitutional Court. The Judicial Appointments Council was to evaluate his candidacy today, but the latter finally withdrew from the race.
Now, the Judicial Appointments Council has qualified 6 out of 13 names that expressed interest in Zaçaj's vacant position. After verifying the documentation provided by the Judicial Appointments Council and checking the conditions and criteria, 6 names have qualified.
The 6 candidates are Alban Toro, Naureda Llagami, Florjan Ballhysa, Genta Tafa, Alma Faskaj and Asim Vokshi. It is worth noting that 5 of the 6 qualified names have held positions in the Supreme Court or Vetting bodies.
We recall that at the beginning of this year, the Supreme Court opened the competition for Zaçaj's seat and 13 people expressed interest. According to the law, the process of verification and determination of candidates is carried out by the Judicial Appointments Council, which at the end of the process sends 3 candidates to the appointing body, in this case the Supreme Court.
