The General Director of the State Police, Director Madhor Skënder Hita, has made his first official visit to Kosovo, where he was received in Pristina by the General Director of the Kosovo Police, Colonel Gazmend Hoxha.
The meeting, which was also attended by the Albanian Ambassador to Kosovo, Petrit Malaj, as well as senior leaders of the police institutions of both countries, evaluated the existing cooperation and the results achieved in the fight against crime.
During his speech, Skënder Hita described the visit to Kosovo as more than a protocol engagement.
"There are places that when you step foot in, you feel more than you can put into words. Pristina is one of them. And today, on my first official visit as Director General of the State Police, I do not feel this as a protocol obligation, but as a privilege, because I am among brothers," he said.
Hita emphasized that security challenges require a joint response and greater coordination between law enforcement institutions.
According to him, organized crime has become more sophisticated and operates beyond state borders, so cooperation between police forces must be further strengthened.
"Crime today is more organized, more sophisticated and without borders. For this reason, our response must also be faster, more coordinated and stronger. Albania and Kosovo have built a model partnership between our two police forces and this cooperation will continue to strengthen," Hita declared.
For his part, the Director of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, emphasized the importance of operational coordination and close cooperation to guarantee security and strengthen the rule of law.
The focus of the discussions was also on current security challenges, the fight against cross-border crime, as well as increased cooperation in information exchange, investigations and joint police operations.
The meeting concluded with the parties committing to further deepening cooperation between the State Police and the Kosovo Police in areas of common interest.
