50 Security Academy students are suspected of having food poisoning again.
Yesterday evening at around 9:00 PM, the trainees experienced symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and headaches. Some of them received medical attention.
This is the second time that Academy students have been poisoned in such a short period of time.
Also on May 7, 56 Security Academy cadets were poisoned.
How did the serious event in May happen?
52 students of the Security Academy ended up in the hospital with signs of poisoning on May 7, 2026. All had just consumed lunch on the academy premises.
"They were taken to the infirmary we have here, then to the QSUT, they returned safe and sound, they are here. Ishp is taking the students' tests again to see how they are doing. It was a mild form. According to the information in the QSUT, the situation was that we could manage it ourselves in the infirmary," said Milton Nushi, Administrator, Security Academy at the time.
The Academy provides students with three meals a day, with catering provided by the company SORI-Al.
The students consumed the same menu, salad with boiled vegetables, potato dish or leek casserole, pasta or pilaf with carrots, meat, biscuits, bananas and bread.
The administrator of the SORI-Al Company, Alma Tafani, was declared wanted by the police. The Blues arrested the chef Kujtim Ballgjini and Kristjana Plaka, a food technologist at the company that brought food to the Security Academy, while another food technologist at SORI-Al was released at large.
The National Food Authority conducted verifications at the entity that produces food in the kitchen premises of the “Skërnderbej” garrison near the Armed Forces Academy in Tirana. The products produced were distributed to contracting points. But there, the AKU says that it took samples of cheese, yogurt, eggs, and sausage for analysis at the ISUV laboratory. The AKU blocked 67.3 kg of products and 1350 eggs. For the lack of a functional and complete traceability system, a fine of 100 thousand lek was imposed on SORI-Al.
Samples for microbiological analysis were also taken from the Security Academy, where pilaf, pasta, beans, sausage and ready-to-serve open yogurt were found, of which 85.9 kg of food products were blocked. In this case too, the subject was fined 100 thousand lek for the lack of a complete traceability system.
By the end of 2025, the Sori-Al company results as the winner of 75 public tenders, with a total value of 4.2 billion lek.
