Amidst irony, satire, and political messages, citizens unfurled banners that attracted attention during the march towards the Prime Minister's Office.
The 25th consecutive protest against Prime Minister Edi Rama was accompanied this Wednesday by numerous banners, where citizens expressed their dissatisfaction through irony, humor, and political messages.
During the march from the Prime Minister's Office to the main streets of Tirana, protesters held banners criticizing the government, the traditional opposition, international institutions, and the political situation in the country.
One of the banners that attracted the most attention was the one with the inscription in English: “STOP VOTING FOR THE SAME OLD FACES – Rama or Berisha? Try Democracy”.
The message came with photos of Edi Rama and Sali Berisha crossed out with a stop sign, conveying the call for new political alternatives.
Another banner satirized the relationship between politics and economic interests, with the text: “Protected… until someone rich asks.” It featured the figure of the prime minister, accompanied by banknotes, implying criticism of the way public interest is managed.
Equally commented on was the banner that read: "Tirana burns, Rama is crucified." A satirical message that referred, according to the protesters, to the government's distance from the problems of its citizens.
The protest also featured banners demanding the annulment of Law 21/2024 and the resignation of the Prime Minister. "The project is annulled - Law 21/2024 is annulled - Rama resigns," one of them read.
There was no shortage of messages directed at the European Union and international partners. “Europe is a standard, not a flag” and “Our government is in the way” were some of the slogans used to express dissatisfaction with the integration and governance process.
Another banner featured the figures of Edi Rama and Sali Berisha in front of an Albanian citizen, with the inscription: "The people are not silent" while in the background appeared the words "poverty", "unemployment", "emigration", "crime", "corruption" and "injustice".
Among the most shared messages on social media was the banner: "And the rain will wash away our sins, but not you, Rama, there is no storm that can take you on!"
Today's protest proved that banners continue to be one of the most direct forms of citizen communication, transforming revolt into visual messages that often attract more attention than the speeches themselves.
