Davide Ancelotti, the assistant coach of the Brazil national team, has been involved in a wave of controversy after the match between Brazil and Scotland, due to a moment captured by television cameras during Neymar's activation.
The footage was interpreted by many fans as a sign of disapproval from Carlo Ancelotti's son, who was seen shaking his head as Neymar entered the pitch. This interpretation prompted widespread reactions on social media, with insults and even threats directed at Ancelotti.
To put an end to the speculation, Davide Ancelotti reacted through an Instagram post, clarifying that his gesture had nothing to do with Neymar, but was part of a conversation with a member of the technical staff.
" In some cases, to maintain the harmony of the group it is necessary to clarify controversial moments. I regret that a conversation with Paul Clement, which had nothing to do with Neymar's entry onto the field, was taken out of context. We are very lucky to work with footballers of such a high level, both professionally and humanly, as the players of the Brazilian national team. We move forward, united, with respect, maximum commitment and enthusiasm ," Ancelotti wrote.
His wife, Ana Galoça, also reacted, saying that she had also become the object of insults on social media due to the misinterpretation of the images.
" Do you realize that you are interpreting an image in a completely wrong way, with no connection to reality, and that is why I have received so many insults this morning? We are the first to want Brazil to win ," she wrote.
Meanwhile, Globo Esporte has also reported that the controversy was created as a result of a misinterpretation of a part of the video. According to the Brazilian media, the full footage shows that immediately after that moment, Davide Ancelotti gets up from the bench, approaches Neymar and greets him, a detail that was not included in the video fragment that went viral on social networks and that, according to the report, contributed to the spread of the controversy.
