The rainfall situation in the Fier region this Sunday appears to have improved. Field verifications and statements from residents show that the water level in the main rivers is decreasing.
Residents claim that the damage from the floods is extensive and that no one has come to inspect it so far. They are pessimistic about receiving compensation.
In the Vjosa River, the water has receded, gradually moving away from agricultural lands and residential yards. The same situation is also present in the Seman River, where flows have stabilized and the level has started to decrease. Currently, over 100 hectares of land planted with wheat and other agricultural crops still remain flooded, but fortunately there are no reports of damaged homes or livestock.
Residents of the area claim that on Saturday several political representatives showed up to see the situation, but so far no official teams have shown up to verify and estimate the damage caused by the floods.
Yesterday evening, the Minister of Defense, Pirro Vëngu, was present near the Seman River in Mbrostar to see the situation up close.
The rains have stopped and the rivers are receding, but residents are still waiting for clarity on the damage and the institutions' next steps.
