Protest organizers reiterated their demands this Thursday, reiterating that they remain unchanged and non-negotiable until they are met.
The five-point platform was read once again from the protest podium, where the main demand remains the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the departure of the entire government cabinet.
"Today, as we have done every other day, we reiterate the demands that have emerged from this square for more than three weeks. We are coming before you with this political declaration of a nationwide and peaceful protest," it was said at the beginning of the statement.
According to the protesters, the government's departure should be followed by the creation of a technical, transitional, and non-partisan government with a 12-month mandate, which will be tasked with organizing free and fair elections.
"We demand the non-negotiable resignation of the prime minister and the entire government. We demand the creation of a non-partisan transitional technical government with a 12-month mandate, which will ensure free and intact elections ," the organizers said.
Another point of the platform is related to constitutional changes. The protesters demand that all citizens be equal before the law, while proposing that these changes be approved through a popular referendum.
The package includes amending the Electoral Code, revising the law on the financing of political parties, and limiting the prime minister's term to no more than two terms.
The statement also called for the repeal of amendments to the law on protected areas and the law on cultural heritage, the cancellation of the "Mountain Package", and the abolition of the legal framework for strategic investments.
"We demand the cancellation of the changes made to the law on protected areas, the repeal of the Mountain Package, and a new social contract between citizens and the state, drafted after consultation with intellectuals, experts, and non-partisan citizens," it was emphasized during the reading of the platform.
In conclusion, the organizers declared that the protest will continue until the demands are fully met.
"These are our clear, legitimate and non-negotiable demands. We remain determined on the path of peaceful, democratic and civic protest until they are realized. We demand a new Albania!", they said.
