Gjergj Buxhuku from Konfindustria, taking cue from the government's new initiative for dairies without tax invoices, raised the alarm about the fiscal burden that weighs on domestic production.
Invited to the 'Debat' show on A2 CNN, Buxhuku said that domestic products are directly taxed 20% more than those that come from imports.
"In today's fiscal legislation in Albania, products produced directly in Albania are taxed 20% more than those imported. You should start the work yourself, stabilize the large fiscal, financial and legal framework so that you can then ask those who you yourself have violated," said Buxhuku.
Asked about the process of integration into the European Union, Buxhuku emphasized that the priority should remain the interest of the Albanian citizen and not just the fulfillment of the formal EU conditions, he said that the interest of Albanians is paramount.
"I don't really care what we do to the EU, I care what we do to the Albanian citizen. The citizen should receive safe, healthy food, regardless of whether we will be part of the EU or not. Ultimately, membership is a means, not a goal. You do it through the EU, or you do it by making an agreement with the US, or you do it yourself, this is then a tactic ," said Buxhuku.
