Procedure for forming the new government/ After the vote in parliament, the new

Following the election of new ministers by Prime Minister Edi Rama today, the constitutional process for the formation of the new government continues with concrete steps tomorrow, September 12. According to the procedures provided for in the Constitution of the Republic of Albania, the new deputies will gather in the Assembly to be sworn in.

Tomorrow at around 10:00, the Parliament will open its doors to the 140 new MPs, certified by the Central Election Commission (CEC). This is the first full session after the elections, where the MPs will officially swear in before the flag and the Constitution, confirming their legitimacy.

The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, will preside over the swearing-in ceremony, as provided for in Article 82 of the Constitution. This is essential to ensure the necessary quorum (at least 71 deputies) for further action.

Immediately after the swearing-in, President Begaj will give the official mandate to Prime Minister Edi Rama to form the new government. This mandate is based on the absolute majority of the Socialist Party (over 80 mandates), authorizing Rama to present the list of elected ministers today.

After the mandate, the deputies will vote for the new Speaker of the Assembly. This election requires an absolute majority and will be followed by the formation of the Bureau of the Assembly, deputy speakers and secretaries. Immediately afterwards, the members of the Council of Ministers hold their first meeting marking the beginning of their duties.
