The protest held this Tuesday on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard was accompanied by strong calls against the government and policies that protesters consider harmful to the public interest and national assets.
"Down with the spies" was one of the slogans heard during the rally, as citizens gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office expressed their opposition to several legal initiatives and projects approved by the government.
Among the protest participants, a citizen took the floor, demanding the resignation of the entire government cabinet. She said that the government should step down and a series of laws that, according to the protesters, violate the interests of Albanians should be withdrawn.
In her speech, the citizen demanded the repeal of the law on strategic investments, as well as the cancellation of the "Mountains Package", two of the main demands articulated by the protest organizers. According to them, these initiatives have paved the way for interference in public property and areas of special natural importance.
The protesters have previously announced a number of other demands, including the repeal of amendments to the law on protected areas and the law on cultural heritage, which they argue endanger the protection of the country's natural and historical assets.
During the rally, participants reiterated that they will not accept negotiations for what they consider the common property of Albanians, while calling on citizens from all over Albania to join the protest and their cause.
The protest is taking place under increased security measures in the area around the Prime Minister's Office, while organizers have warned that citizen reactions will continue in the coming days if their demands are not taken into account.
