The famous actor once again joined the protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office and called for more patriotism, demanding that citizens sing the national anthem together.
Renowned actor Mehdi Malkaj joined the civic protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office this Sunday, conveying a strong message about national identity and the way in which, according to him, patriotic values have been treated over the years.
Amidst the applause of the protesters, Malkaj said that one of the most neglected things in Albania is the national anthem itself, while criticizing the fact that the younger generations are not sufficiently educated with a sense of patriotism.
" Good morning everyone. A person does not die when they say a kind word, like the words 'I love you all'. I now have a wish, which I want anyone who has it to fulfill for me ," said Malkaj at the beginning of his speech.
Then, the actor focused on what he considered one of the wounds of Albanian society.
" Dear friends, the one that has been raped the most in this midst is the national anthem. Children come to school and don't tell the teacher what it is ," he said.
At the end of his speech, Malkaj called on the citizens present to join in singing the national anthem.
" Let's sing the national anthem here, all of us ," said the actor.
His call was met with applause from protesters gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office, on the 12th day of the civic protest, which has gathered thousands of people and has transformed into a broader movement against the political establishment in the country.
