Journalist Lutfi Dervishi estimates that the civic protest, which has entered its 47th day, has shaken the Albanian political system and given political forces an opportunity to reflect and change.
Invited to the show "Off the Record" with Andrea Dangli on A2 CNN, Dervishi described this move as one of the most positive developments in the country's history, emphasizing that it has also improved Albania's image in the international arena.
" The protest has left the system and the political class in the fall, in the sense that it has given them a chance to change. The protest is one of the best things that has happened to Albania in the last 100 years. In the sense that it has also improved the image of the country. From what I have followed the international media, public opinion in very democratic countries has taken Tirana as an example, so much so that one observer expressed that in addition to the Copenhagen criteria that the country needs to join the EU, the Tirana criteria should also be introduced ," he said.
According to the journalist, the echo of the protest has gone beyond the borders of Albania, becoming a subject of discussion even in important international political circles.
" The situation that reaches the point where senators in the US Senate say to take an example from Tirana, has brought something good to Albania and given actors a chance to improve. Even the fact that they have not come up with a political movement, which is what the system wants, shows exactly this; they want to change ," Dervishi declared.
According to him, the fact that the protest has maintained its civic character and has not turned into a party movement constitutes one of the elements that distinguishes it and gives weight to the message it aims to convey.
