Journalist from Vlora Enrik Mehmeti lost his life this evening as a result of a tragic accident.
The incident occurred in the Zvërnec beach area. According to initial reports, the cause was a motorcycle accident.
According to initial information and testimonies from the scene, the journalist was traveling on a four-wheeled motorcycle when, for reasons that are still unknown, the vehicle overturned and rolled several times.
During the accident, a metal part of the vehicle hit him hard in the chest, causing fatal injuries.
Immediately after the accident, he was urgently transported to the Vlora Regional Hospital, but despite the doctors' efforts, he was unable to survive the injuries he sustained.
Police have arrived at the scene and have launched investigations to determine the full circumstances and causes of the accident.
With his departure, Albanian journalism loses a field reporter who for more than two decades was closely connected to developments in Vlora. For years, Mehmeti was the face and voice that brought to the media the most important events of the south of the country, from the dark chronicle to police operations, social, political and tourist developments.
He was known for his immediate presence on the scene, exclusive reporting, and insistence on bringing verified information, even in difficult situations.
Beyond being a journalist, Enrik Mehmeti was a devoted husband and father. In an interview years ago, he confessed that the birth of his daughter, Noah, had made him more sensitive and had changed his life, showing the human side of a journalist that the public knew mainly between serious events and daily chronicles.
His departure leaves a huge void among his colleagues, friends and the public that followed him for years. A reporter who lived at the pace of the news, always in search of the truth and close to the events that marked the life of the city of Vlora.
