The Airport Industry Association of Europe has warned that flights could be at risk due to a lack of fuel supplies for aircraft. The timing of this expected crisis is not far off, the association says, as if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened within three weeks, there will be a fuel shortage that could lead to flight reductions on the eve of the tourist season.

Asked if Albania is also at risk, the Civil Aviation Authority told Report TV that "there are no anticipated problems with fuel supply."

Aviation clarifies that "if the crisis is short-term, Albania will not be affected by the jet fuel crisis."

But how long will we have fuel supplies for the planes? According to the Civil Aviation Authority, if the war lasts until May, "fuel supplies are guaranteed for almost 5 months."

But if the conflict in the Middle East does not end and the war continues beyond May, Avicioni says that "Albania will also face problems with the supply of fuel for aircraft."

"We currently have 5 months of fuel secured. If the war and crisis last beyond May, Albania will also face problems with fuel supply for aircraft ," the Civil Aviation Authority explained.

We remind you that restrictions affecting the fuel supply of aircraft in transit have come into force at several airports in Italy. The measure is applied at seven airports, where aircraft that temporarily stop cannot be supplied for the next flight segment.

As a result, planes operating through Albania are being filled with more fuel than usual to cover the entire route. The Civil Aviation Authority explains that this practice increases consumption and could affect existing reserves if the situation persists.

According to the institution's data, the country has reserves for about five months, assuming a normalization of the situation in May. However, the increase in supply for each flight could put this level of security under pressure.

The authority emphasizes that a reduction in the number of flights is not currently being considered. According to it, the supply chain has not shown any problems up to this stage.

In international markets, the price of jet fuel has reached $1,464 per ton. Global indices show a strong increase during April, with the price per barrel rising from around $100 before the start of the conflict to $209 in the first days of the month.
