In his greeting, he raises concern about the "decline of indifference" and emphasizes the importance of faith in a troubled world.
The Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all of Albania, Joan, has conveyed his message on the occasion of Orthodox Easter, emphasizing peace, faith and the spiritual challenges of modern society.
The message contains a call for personal reflection and for building inner peace, as a prerequisite for peace in society.
In a post on the official website of the Autocephalous Church of Albania, he congratulated the believers and shared reflections on the current reality, describing the time we live in as a period accompanied by uncertainty and global tensions. According to him, the message of the Resurrection remains current and necessary for humanity.
In his speech, the Archbishop recalls that Christ's first message after the Resurrection was "Peace be with you," describing this as a peace that does not depend on circumstances or political developments, but on man's relationship with God.
He emphasizes that the world today faces wars, uncertainty, and fear for the future, while true peace, according to him, lies beyond these conditions and is connected to the spiritual dimension of life.
An important part of the message is dedicated to criticizing what the Archbishop calls “numbness of indifference” and “spiritual withering.” He states that modern society, in its pursuit of material goods and status, is facing emptiness and inner insecurity.
According to him, this situation does not come from the prohibition of faith, but from the choice to ignore it. In this context, he also quotes the biblical words about the loss of the soul in the face of material gain, describing them as more relevant than ever.
Archbishop Joan also dwells on the past of the Orthodox Church in Albania, recalling the period of persecution during the communist regime, when the faith was banned and religious institutions were destroyed.
He emphasizes that, despite this, the Church managed to rise again, linking this to the message of the Resurrection and the power of faith in history.
The Archbishop calls on believers to become "peacemakers" in a world characterized by conflict and selfishness, emphasizing that peace begins within the individual and then spreads to the community.
