E se torniamo indietro nel tempo, riferendoci al "rimpianto" espresso dai parlamentari o dai burocrati di partito, lo schema di manipolazione era semplice nel DP anche quando c'erano formalmente 4 candidati in lizza...
Oggi i membri del Partito Democratico sono stati chiamati a un referendum per riconfermare Sali Berisha come leader del principale partito di opposizione. Berisha non ha avversari, mentre almeno 5 candidati, tra cui Ervin Salianji, Evi Kokalari e Alesia Balliu, non sono stati ammessi alla candidatura perché non soddisfacevano i requisiti o non facevano parte delle strutture del Partito Democratico.
Il processo inizia alle 08:00 e dura fino alle 18:00, mentre le votazioni si terranno in oltre 73 sezioni del Partito Democratico in tutto il paese, sebbene in nessun momento sia stato pubblicato il numero di iscritti che avranno diritto di voto, mantenendo "segreto" uno degli elementi principali del referendum.
A Berisha è stato chiesto pubblicamente del numero degli iscritti, ma, pur evitando una risposta diretta, ha invitato i membri a partecipare in massa. Questa è anche la principale sfida che il leader democratico deve affrontare in quello che viene considerato un referendum all'interno del DP, mentre Berisha si trova a competere con se stesso.
Questa è la seconda volta in poco più di 4 anni che Berisha chiede agli iscritti di riconfermare la propria candidatura, senza però riuscire a creare una vera competizione interna al Partito Democratico, che potrebbe stabilire uno standard diverso da quello applicato in quasi il 90% di tutte le competizioni che questo partito ha indetto dal 1992 ad oggi.
Il 18 dicembre 2021, Berisha è stato confermato presidente del DP con 40.820 voti su 43.680 iscritti che avevano dichiarato di aver partecipato al referendum indetto all'epoca. Questa rimane l'unica sfida che Berisha deve affrontare nelle elezioni odierne: riuscirà a ottenere lo stesso numero di voti del 2021?
In un contesto in cui nessuno può controllare la reale effettiva procedura, dato che tutte le fasi sono monitorate e controllate dai fedelissimi di Berisha, sembra un obiettivo che, anche se non raggiunto nella realtà, verrà "aggiustato" alla fine del processo. In poche parole, chi si occupa dei verbali dovrebbe prestare attenzione ed evitare di ripetere gli errori che, in molti casi, hanno rivelato manipolazioni ogni volta che si sono tenute elezioni nel DP.

The June 2021 elections, when Lulzim Basha was running against Agron Shehaj, Edit Harxhi and Fatbardh Kadilli, are enough, for the boxes to be filled with votes in Basha's favor, and his rivals learned of such a fact a few months later, after Edi Paloka publicly claimed that he had influenced the process.
This is enough to understand that today Berisha's 'loyalists' are not concerned with the result of the reconfirmation, but with the objective of equaling the result of 2021 or exceeding it. But if we focus on the political developments after the elections of May 11, 2025, in quite a few branches of the DP in the districts there was a flow of membership from this party towards the government of Edi Rama. Vlora, Fier and Elbasan were the cities where after the elections there was the largest flow of structures from the DP towards Rama's Rilindja, while recently messages have been published that have highlighted that in other branches too, the presence of names in the leadership structures is formal, since in quite a few cases they are in constant communication with their political opponents.
Berisha officially returned to the leadership of the DP in December 2021, through a Re-establishment process, which was 'sold' as a salvation for the largest opposition party, but which ultimately resulted in simply a process where the former prime minister would take control of every cell in this party.
The only promise Berisha offers to the Democrats is to oust Rama from power, even though he has failed completely in over 4 years. But the former prime minister has declared another 'finding', that of the last kilometer of the opposition action, although this expression has produced quite a few memes on social networks.
The process for electing the leader of the Democratic Party of Albania officially opened in March, while for weeks the procedures that would allow for a real competition in this party were blocked.
Evi Kokalari, Ervin Salianji, Alesia Balliu, Mereme Sela and Vladimir Mulaj were not allowed to run, and some of them even had their application documents not accepted, claiming that they were not members or had self-excluded from the race.
This has caused a series of reactions. Some of the candidates attempted to block the process by going to the Tirana Court, while Evi Kokalari, one of the founding members of the Re-establishment Commission, has chosen to go to SPAK, where she lists a series of accusations not only against Sali Berisha, but also his family.
Kokalari uses as an argument the taking of the party hostage since the Assembly on April 30, 2022 until today.
Nel frattempo, Ervin Salianji ha presentato una denuncia ai partiti popolari europei tramite una lettera pubblica, affermando che il Partito Democratico è stato preso in ostaggio da Sali Berisha.
Dopo il referendum odierno, il DP terrà una riunione dell'Assemblea Nazionale in cui verranno approvate le modifiche allo statuto, che con ogni probabilità porranno questo partito ancora più sotto il controllo di Berisha e della sua famiglia. / Opuscolo /
