This was Prime Minister Edi Rama's direct request to UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, in a speech held yesterday at the Brigades Palace, where an official dinner was held in honor of the members of the UEFA Executive Committee who held their next meeting in Tirana.
The request was initially made by the host, the president of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka. “ Imagine, the UEFA Super Cup final in Tirana. A moment not only historic, but truly unforgettable that would engrave the name of our country with pride on the global football scene ,” said President Duka in his welcoming speech to all delegations.
Yesterday, during the UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Tirana, it was decided that the UEFA Super Cup for the 2026 edition will be held in Salzburg, Austria. Thus, Albania's request, which will be officially made by the Albanian Football Association to UEFA, will be for the next edition.
Edi Rama, when speaking, said that such football events have an impact on Albania. He mentioned the 2022 final in Tirana between Roma and Feyenoord. The Prime Minister said that since that match and its brilliance, the Dutch have significantly increased their number of visits to Albania.
" The number of Dutch tourists has increased by 5 or 6 percent ," said the prime minister, referring to their presence at the match and the impact it had on the country.
Yesterday's dinner was spent in a friendly and traditional atmosphere. UEFA friends, in addition to enjoying Albanian cuisine during dinner, had the opportunity to attend a spectacle of the Albanian CHAMBER, where a professional group performed Albanian songs, staged an Albanian wedding with songs and dances, took the spectacle to the dance of Osman Taka and the Cham tradition, and continued with the north with the dance of Tropoja. The arias sung by the two tenors Josif Gjipali and Kastriot Tusha received great applause, while in the hall, all the waiters were dressed in traditional costumes, which turned the place into a large spectacle stage, where the spectators were foreign friends and very surprised by everything organized down to the smallest detail.
