Coach Silvinjo held a press conference yesterday after Albania won the friendly against Jordan. The Reds won with a score of 4-2 at "Air Albania".
At the moment Silvinjo was speaking, Serbia's match with Andorra was tied 1-1. He was asked for a comment, but Silvinjo said no. An episode that caused laughter in the hall. Serbia then closed the away match with a 1-3 victory.
Silvinjo was also asked about the changes at the press conference. The national team coach gave his explanation after the friendly.
You've usually been sparing in terms of changes to the squad, at least in official matches. Could the success in this friendly, where around 7 players from the base were replaced, be a signal that we should try harder in official matches, to bring something different to the lineup?
In fact, they are two different things. A friendly for a national team also serves to see the players, how they can function and perform with each other. I don't believe that we can put 11 players on the field and those who are not combined, have never played with each other without training perhaps in the right position, so that they can do well.
But I believe in such a combination, in a connection, like for example Berat Gjimshiti who can play alongside Enea Mihaj, then of course Klisman Cake was also included. So I believe in a kind of connection in the players who are used to us and our tactics. Official matches certainly have differences, but they are valued because they have to come at a certain moment.
In the match against Serbia, I remember Broja being substituted, then Uzun was moved to the right and Arbër Hoxha to the left. There were still 30 minutes left in the match and the team improved. We as the technical staff took note of this. It was something that improved the team. Everything is calculated in a match.
Changes can be made, but not necessarily when they are not related to the positions that the players can play on the field. But everything is possible, you can play with two strikers. You can play with the 3-5-2 scheme, but you always have to evaluate the characteristics of the players and the opponents.
If you're in a game with 10 minutes left, of course you can make some changes, take the team forward. I'm always the type of coach who prefers to make assessments of the changes that can be made.
