Rei Manaj returned to the field of play today with his club in the United Arab Emirates. He took to the field wearing the Al Sharjah jersey, even though it had not even been 48 hours since he had played as a starter for Albania in the World Cup qualifiers.
The striker had played from the start of Tuesday's match against Latvia at "Air Albania", but his club did not even respect FIFA's instructions to protect players by not activating them within 48 hours of national team matches.
Manaj played as a substitute in this away match against Korfakhan, only coming on in the 59th minute. However, he left his mark in this duel, as it was the Albanian striker who scored with a penalty in the 9th minute of added time of the match to seal the 2-2 draw.
This was Manaj's first league goal with his new club, having previously scored only in the United Arab Emirates League Cup. Part of the Al Sharjah team from the first minute was Shpresava midfielder Feta Fetai.
