The Australian Olympic Committee has confirmed that a hockey player who participated in the Olympic Games was arrested on Tuesday night.
French media reported on Wednesday that Tom Craig, 28, was allegedly caught trying to buy cocaine in Paris and then taken into custody.
The drug dealer, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested along with Craig.
A statement said: " The Australian Olympic Committee has confirmed that a member of the Australian hockey team is in custody after being arrested in Paris on 6 August. No charges have been filed yet, the AOC is continuing to investigate ."
Craig is a veteran hockey player who has made 101 appearances for the Australian national team over a 10-year career.
He was part of the Australian team that won a silver medal at Tokyo 2020 and also won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
