FIFA has announced changes to the international match calendar starting from the 2026/27 season. The official schedule, published on the FIFA website, outlines national team matches until 2030.
From 2026, instead of three autumn international windows, there will be two international breaks for national team matches. The new calendar combines September and October into one extended window, during which players can play up to four matches.
In 2026, the international holiday is scheduled from September 21 to October 6, lasting 16 days.
By comparison, in the fall of 2025 there will be three windows split into September, October and November, each of nine days, allowing teams to play two games per window.
As a result, FIFA has reduced the number of international breaks from five to four, excluding special windows for World Cup finals and continental tournaments. The March and November breaks remain unchanged, at nine days each, with two possible matches.
The summer window in May-June is also maintained, providing a nine-day break for two matches, including friendlies in preparation for tournaments.
Additionally, the 2026 autumn schedule in Europe will include UEFA Nations League group stage matches.
