David Coote has been banned for eight weeks by the English Football Association after being formally charged with abusive comments towards Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
The comments were made in a July 2020 video, published on social media in November 2024. The English Federation stated that Kute had breached rule E3.1 for inappropriate conduct and offensive language.
He is also accused of a serious breach of rule E3.2 for references to Klopp's nationality.
In addition to the suspension, he must also follow a “re-education” program. Kute pleaded guilty to the violations found by the Independent Regulatory Commission.
UEFA has banned him from officiating European matches until June 2026.
