A former Montpellier player (who were relegated to Ligue 2 in France this season) was found seriously injured after being stabbed near the heart, reports “actu.fr”. The 40-year-old, whose identity has not been revealed, was rescued from his home in the town of Pérols (Hérault) yesterday at around 7pm. Police have opened an investigation to determine the unclear circumstances of this incident.
Criminal act or suicide attempt?
Called to help the victim at his villa, firefighters, doctors and police found the former footballer unconscious after losing a lot of blood "due to a stab wound around the heart," the portal explains. The former player was treated on the spot before being rushed to Montpellier University Hospital, where his condition is considered serious.
The investigation is ongoing and forensic experts are trying to find evidence that could shed light on the incident. In particular, they will try to determine whether it was a criminal act involving third parties or a suicide attempt, a hypothesis that according to investigators cannot be completely ruled out.
