Olympic boxing champion from Algeria, Imani Kelif, attended Milan Fashion Week. The athlete was at Matthieu Blazy's Spring 2025 show alongside Kendall Jenner, Jacob Elordi, Yara Shahidi, Julianne Moore and Michelle Yeoh.
In the photos she posted on her personal Instagram account, she is seen wearing a yellow jacket and black leather pants.
Khelif is Algeria's first Olympic medalist in women's boxing and the first female boxer to win a gold medal since 1996.
The accusations that Khelif is a "man who fights as a woman" have caused strong reactions, especially from those who have known Khelif since her childhood. These claims were quickly disproved with the release of her elementary school photos, proving that she had always been a girl.
The tension surrounding the case continued to rise, with many voices supporting Khelif and others questioning her participation in the Olympics.
She gave her answer herself through social networks. "In terms of qualifying or not, whether I am female or not, I have made many statements to the media," said Kalif after her victory. "I have all the qualifications to participate in this event. I am a woman like any other woman. I was born a woman, lived as a woman, fought as a woman, no doubt about it. My critics, as I call them, are the enemies of my success. After the attacks I received, my victory has more value."
"My honor is intact now," Kelif said, adding: "The attacks I received on social media were ugly and made no sense and affect people's dignity, and I think now people's way of thinking has changed. Regarding the Boxing Federation (IBA), since 2018 I fight under its umbrella. They know me very well, they know what I'm capable of, they know how I've evolved over the years, but now they don't know me anymore. They hate me and I don't know why. I am sending them a single message: with this gold medal above all is my dignity, my honor".
