Fernando dos Santos Carvalho, the man who gave Ronaldo his first chance when he was just 9 years old, today lives on the streets, sick and in extreme poverty.
The former Brazilian scout, who once took the "Phenomenon" to and from training, has remained in the shadows, while Ronaldo has become a global legend.
"I tried to meet him in São Paulo, but he rejected me. He didn't even return my messages," says Carvalho, 58, who still hopes for a glimmer of gratitude.
