Former MP Petro Koçi has been added to the list of senior figures of the Socialist Party who have reacted in recent days to political developments in the country.

Through a public reaction, Koçi commented on the debate created after the publication of a list of payments to former KLA contributors, describing this action as a mistake.

" The publication of the invoice with several payments to former KLA contributors was an unnecessary mistake ," he says.

Koçi explains that activist Dritan Goxhaj was not a commander in the KLA structures, but at the same time he defends the figure of Tahir Sinan, whom he calls "the honor and glory not only of the KLA and Kosovo, but of the entire Albanian nation."

The former socialist MP also recalls the role of the Socialist Party during the war in Kosovo, stating that the SP remains the political force that was the true partner of the KLA in Albania, while accusing the Democratic Party of having taken a stance against the LPK and the KLA during the war.

In his reaction, Koçi recalls that Prime Minister Edi Rama was also part of the War Government at that time.

But the most significant point of the former MP's statement is related to the civic protest. Unlike the official government rhetoric, Petro Koçi calls for institutional reflection and concrete changes.

" The government must respond to the protest with constitutional reforms to free the Republic from certain deformations that weakened its parliamentary character and unbalanced the relationship between state institutions in favor of the dominance of the executive ," he declares.

Petro Koç's reaction comes at a time when more and more prominent figures of the Socialist Party are taking public positions on the protest and political developments. Earlier, Ditmir Bushati, Arta Dade, Ilir Zela, Ermelinda Meksi, Ndre Legisi, Arben Malaj, Piro Lutaj and others have reacted, increasing political pressure on the government and making the distancing of part of the old socialist guard from the official line of the Socialist Party even more visible.
