Prime Minister Edi Rama has tried to console the names that were defeated in the open list of the SP. Mimi Kodheli, Majko, Qefalia, Gjylameti, and many important figures were left out. But Rama, at the SP party, signaled that they will take on new duties.
Edi Rama: The fourth mandate that we have just received is a story in itself. If in our large family victory is measured by the number of mandates we received, for us, the fourth mandate must be measured by the enormous burden of a historical responsibility that the people threw on our shoulders with the weight of a full 83 mandates. There are 83 stones on our backs.
This is not another mandate, but a legacy that comes from far away and that we were lucky enough to be at the right time and place and we have the privilege of being given the opportunity to bring to the country, turning the next 4 years into the greatest test of character and patriotism, to raise Albania 2030 to the peak where the EU house stands.
All of us here are the first to fully understand the full meaning of this ordeal and to assign to ourselves, as individuals, then as a team, the weights that we must necessarily carry, that of character and patriotism, to lead the entire army of this battle for history. Doing our job with pride, wisdom and dedication. All of this, embodying a meaningful sense of solidarity among us.
I want to say to those who will not return to Parliament in September that I understand their sadness about the individual competition. There is no individual competition that you can lose without being upset, even when you play with the kids with a ball you have a moment of sadness if you realize that you are no longer the first one and they are no longer the youngest and you lost.
But I assure them that if they see the loss of their job as a new personal and professional opportunity in another workplace, but in service of the same common goals, as winners of the historic mandate of May 11, they will not only be useful, but they will enrich their political and professional careers and if they want to return to the Assembly, they will be able to run again in the future.
