The Albanian Parliament approved amendments to the law on tourist ports, paving the way for strategic investors to build these structures without undergoing the concession procedure. The bill passed with 76 votes in favor and 26 against, while the opposition opposed it en bloc.

The legal amendment provides that entities with "strategic investor" status will no longer be required to follow the concession procedure for the construction of tourist ports. Currently, according to the law in force, ports are built by the private sector, but after a certain period they are transferred to the state. With the new amendment, the port remains the permanent property of the investor.

The proposal, submitted by Socialist MP Zamira Sinaj, sparked heated debate in the Assembly. The majority defended the initiative, stressing that it aims to promote the development of tourism and attract investment. The head of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, argued that the changes will bring a “new spirit” to the sector.

On the other hand, the opposition considered the draft a law favoring certain interests. The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, declared that it is a "tailor-made" law, which, according to him, serves businessmen connected to the government.

The law's proponent herself stressed that the purpose of the changes is simply to facilitate procedures and increase investment in the tourism sector. She justified the law as a move to prevent Jared Kushner from leaving Sazani. According to her, Trump's son-in-law is at risk of leaving and it seems that now he will "breathe freely."

In addition to this draft law, the Assembly also approved amendments to the law "On the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism", with 76 votes in favor and 27 against.

Meanwhile, two opposition draft decisions to establish investigative commissions – for the Albanian Road Authority and for the National Information Society Agency (ANA) – were defeated by majority votes.

The Parliament also elected Olta Rrushaj as a member of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania, with 74 votes in favor, 26 against and 3 abstentions.
