As hundreds of protesters gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office demanding the cancellation of the Zvërnec project and the resignation of the government, Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted via social media with a video from Porto Montenegro in Montenegro.
In his post, Rama cites as an example the tourism development of one of the most popular projects in the region, implying that Albania should not miss similar investment opportunities.
"LIVE FROM PERLA WHO WAS BROUGHT HERE BY SOMEONE WHO EXPELLED HIM FROM ALBANIA," Rama writes in the introduction to his reaction.
The Prime Minister accompanies the video with a direct message to the project's opponents, recalling, according to him, the missed opportunities of the past.
"Oh, my dear, these little brothers once passed the ball to us for a ride, because of our old men who let the ball go to the sea," Rama says.
At the end of the reaction, the head of government hints that he has no intention of withdrawing from the project, despite the opposition and protests that have been taking place for days.
"But now there is no more talk, let all those who say they don't want or don't love us forget, because the ball of the history of New Albania is passing us by again," Rama writes.
The prime minister's reaction comes at a time when the protest against the project has entered its fifth day, while opponents of the investment are demanding its cancellation, arguing that it violates a protected area with special natural and environmental values.
