Korreshi: Zvërnec was the last straw, people have taken to the streets out

Democratic Party MP Saimir Korreshi focused on the protests of recent days during his speech in the Assembly, stating that the project in Zvërnec was only the spark that sparked the citizen reaction, while the reasons for the dissatisfaction are much broader.

According to Korreshi, the citizens who are protesting have not taken to the streets just because of the Zvërnec issue, but because of the daily economic and social problems they face.

" We have an obligation to listen to them, because ordinary people do not have the opportunity to scream from this pulpit. Zvërnec was the last straw. They are tired of listening to your nonsense. They talk about pensions, but they asked pensioners how much they earn per month. You who say that we are one step away from Europe. Do you know that these people are holding their breath for the children they have. That's why people are in the square, that's why they are lying in the street ," he declared.

The Democratic MP then raised concerns about the healthcare system, citing the case of a citizen from Lushnja, who, according to him, was forced to obtain the tetanus vaccine herself due to her absence from the hospital.

" Our friend in Lushnja was forced to buy tetanus shots abroad because there is no hospital. This country does two tests, one for leukemia and the other normal. My tests came back after I donated blood, and they showed no white blood cells. I went and had them done again and they came back normal ," said Korreshi.

He also criticized the conditions in education and the economic situation of young people, arguing that these are the main reasons that are driving emigration.

" Teachers are working in the afternoon, which yesterday was the most luxurious class. That's why people are leaving, young people are leaving. But they can't buy a soufflé for themselves. In this country, the charade has increased ," said the Democrat MP.

Korreshi linked the citizens' protest to an accumulation of long-standing problems, arguing that the debate over Zvërnec has served as a catalyst for broader dissatisfaction with the government and the social situation in the country.
