Socialist Party MP, Elisa Spiropali, gave a brief comment to the media as she entered the Parliament premises, calling for reflection and addressing citizens' concerns through political dialogue.
"We need to reflect, listen and offer solutions. We should not deal with the protesters but with ourselves. The Assembly should be used to talk to people about their concerns and to offer solutions, and each political force and each side should analyze itself," she said.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, Spiropali also put an end to speculation about a possible departure from the Socialist Party, emphasizing that she will carry out her political battle within the SP and that the challenge to the prime minister will continue within the party structures, confirming that work on the "New Albania" draft is continuing, although she did not make public details on its content or the deadlines for its presentation.
We recall that in recent months Spiropali has had public clashes with Prime Minister Edi Rama, criticizing the government's model of governance and the way it responded to the protesters. During the wave of protests against the government, she hardened her stance, criticizing the length of Rama's term in power and demanding changes in the way of governance.
The MP argued that the Socialist Party should open up to the competition of ideas and different opinions, while she first proposed the drafting of the "New Albania". According to her public reflection, this document aims for a new political agreement for the country, with more competition, limitation of power, strengthening of institutions, increased control role of Parliament, a more representative electoral system and a political culture where, according to her, "rotation is not seen as a catastrophe and victory is not seen as ownership".
