On the eve of the joint Albania-European Union meeting and the launch of a new phase of negotiations, Socialist Party MP and former Foreign Minister, Elisa Spiropali, has reacted with a long message about the country's European integration process.
Through a public statement, Spiropali described the moment as a historic step for Albania, emphasizing that the integration process is the result of a long path of efforts and sacrifices.
" Tomorrow, Albania enters a new phase of its European path, with the first step towards the closure of negotiations with the European Union, a moment that has not come by chance, but after a long path of efforts, clashes, expectations, patience and a constant belief that our country naturally belongs to the European family ," says Spiropali.
The former Foreign Minister underlines that European integration should not be seen only as a technical or formal process, but as a profound transformation of the Albanian state and society.
" For Albania, Europe has never been just a political or diplomatic project. It has been the desire to build a fairer and more democratic state, stronger institutions, a more competitive economy and a society where young people do not see their future only abroad ," she declares.
In her reaction, Spiropali also focuses on the challenges that, according to her, Albania must face before joining the EU.
" Albania needs more than enthusiasm. It needs clarity. It needs political and civic courage. It needs a precise state and social platform for the European Albania that we want to build, a detailed vision for institutions, justice, economy, education, administration and freedom ," emphasizes the socialist MP.
According to Spiropali, Albania should enter the European Union prepared and with consolidated standards.
" The day when Albania will light the fireworks of membership should not be the end of a road, but the day when Albania is ready, without fear and without improvisation, to sit naturally at the table of the confederation of European nations ," concludes her reaction.
Spiropal's reaction comes at an important moment for the integration process, as Albania is expected to hold important meetings with European Union representatives in the context of advancing negotiations.
As kanë dashur e as duan që të futemi në BE.
