Today's parliamentary session began again with debates between small opposition parties that have not abandoned the Assembly, and the majority.
Joint Movement MP Redi Muçi raised the issue of Serbian Minister Snezhana Paunovic's statement regarding ethnic cleansing in Kosovo in the plenary session. He demanded an explanation as to why the Albanian government has not taken the same step as Kosovo, which has declared the Serbian minister "non grata".
From the Parliament podium, Muçi called on the Albanian government to take a stand on the Serbian minister's statement and criticized the lack of reaction from Prime Minister Edi Rama.
" Ethnic cleansing is a crime against humanity. Such statements are in violation of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania. If Rama does not take a stand on the Serbian minister's statement, what will he take a stand on? How is it possible that this prime minister does not say a quarter of a word when Vučić's man talks about ethnic cleansing? He has let Taulant Balla attack journalists and did not forget to deal with Dua Lipa. How is it possible that he does not make a statement about the Serbian minister for ethnic cleansing of Albanians living in Kosovo?", said Muçi.
Balla responded by saying that the Albanian government reacted in time through the statement of the foreign minister. Among other things, Balla called Muçi a 'political scoundrel', taking his defense of Rama even further, telling the MP to 'wash your mouth when you talk about the black minister'.
"Regarding a statement that is not only irresponsible, but also serious, the Albanian government's reaction has been timely from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Meanwhile, these are issues that are not addressed in political sleight of hand, but are issues of national importance that you cannot mock with a procedural aspect. We do not mock national issues, we are not sleight of hand like yours. We have maintained our position at the government, political level. I reacted long before you, since we became like toads in the garden; you were asleep when I reacted. Naturally, this reprehensible act has also been condemned by representative political authorities that we communicate with, the European Commission. When Albania reacts, it reacts together with its allies. It is a shame to come and do politics.
"As for Edi Rama, you and your friends should wash your mouths well, as he is the only prime minister who has raised the issue of Kosovo in the middle of Belgrade. Even in 2014, in Belgrade, he declared that Kosovo is an independent state and Albania strongly supports Kosovo's membership in NATO and the EU," said Balla.
