Rudina Hajdari insists: Berisha must step down, bear responsibility for voting

After the heavy defeat in the May 11 elections for former DP MP Rudina Hajdari, DP leader Sali Berisha must resign.

Invited today to the 'Studio Live' show, on Report TV with journalist Arbër Hitaj, she stated that Berisha should respect the changes he himself made to the statute.

" Berisha has made a change in status since when a president loses the elections there must be a change or a resignation. If we want to change, we must respect that status of the DP for not reflecting the losses. There are electoral crimes and these are things known by the opposition, but how can the opposition be forgiven for voting for this electoral system ," she said.

For Rudina Hajdari, the problem in these elections was the electoral system, which according to her is at a disadvantage to the opposition.

" The result was problematic and shows that democracy does not work and that the electoral system is the genesis of all problems. In no country does it happen that the one in power gains votes. And this comes as a result not of the support that Rama has among the citizens, but of the problems of the electoral system that is regionally proportional and makes it difficult for the opposition and creates unequal conditions. They have made a big mistake in not fighting to create a system that is to the advantage of the opposition. With Alimehmet's votes we could have had two deputies, so he received enough votes for two deputies ," she said.

According to her, the DP should have come up with a new offer against Edi Rama.

" The open lists have highlighted who are those who support the citizens and those who have remained in the shadow of the mayor. I would never choose to be on the closed list. The opposition in these elections should fight for a change in the electoral system, even though in the conditions it is in today, they are not able to impose themselves on the government.

The main problem is the electoral system and the opposition on the other hand should have come up with a new offer and had a reflection on the local elections. The DP had many strong blows that brought it many consequences and damages, but the opposition had some things in its hands; it should have made a broader effort not to leave anyone out of the lists and to accept even those who were against the DP and should have come up with a new offer in front of Edi Rama. If there were 2 or 3 Alimehmeti and Jorida Tabaku in the elections, we would have had a much different reality , "she said.
