The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, responded to Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements on European integration and the IBAR report, stating that its approval came for geopolitical reasons and not as a result of the Socialist government.
During his speech at the "rostrum" in front of the Prime Minister's Office, Berisha said that the content of the report constitutes a strong blow to Rama's government, while accusing it of links to corruption, oligarchs and drug cartels.
Berisha said that Rama was terrified by the referendum organized by the opposition, describing it as a test of the strength and determination of the democrats.
"Tomorrow, Edi Rama goes to Brussels for the intergovernmental conference on IBAR. The new report is the report in which Edi Rama finds his pitiful and scornful Lindas, finds the drug cartels, finds the mafia, finds the oligarchs, finds censorship," Berisha declared.
The DP leader emphasized that the report was approved due to the European Union's strategic interest in the region.
"Yes, there is a geopolitical factor and this region will belong to the EU and this is an extremely fair historical assessment and of great interest to our nations. But with its content, Edi Rama is in the red circle," he said.
Berisha also reacted to Rama's statements about the strength of the Socialist Party and European integration, saying that the opposition is stronger and more determined than ever.
"Edi Rama, the democrats' referendum terrified you. You felt it to the core. You did everything to smear him, but they gave you the most deserved response," Berisha said.
According to him, the opposition represents "the strongest hope," while adding that the Democrats will take their political battle to the end.
"Now our voice is stronger than ever. Our will is stronger than ever. Our determination is greater than ever," the DP leader concluded.
