Albanian Forum, the new project that aims to strengthen the representation of Albanians
A historic development for the Albanian political scene in Montenegro was formalized this Saturday in Tuz, where three Albanian political entities decided to unite into a single political force, the Albanian Forum.
The Democratic Alliance of Albanians (DSA), the Albanian Alternative and the Democratic Albanian Union formalized their merger into a single entity, aiming to strengthen the political representation of Albanians and create a common platform for the future.
The merger agreement was signed during a solemn meeting of the parties' leading bodies in Tuz by Nik Gjeloshaj, Ferhat Dinosha and Ivan Ivanaj. Until the general assembly of the Albanian Forum is held, the leadership of the entity will be exercised by Nik Gjeloshaj.
In his speech, the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro and leader of the Albanian Alternative, Nik Gjeloshaj, described the unification as a new moment for Albanian politics.
"For all Albanian citizens in Montenegro, this union has a special meaning. We have functioned so far as different coalitions and with great success. It is precisely through this cooperation that we have achieved some of the most historic results that Albanians have had in Montenegro. However, we have seen the need to go one step further and build a single political entity, not only for today, but also for future generations, as a guarantee for Albanian unity," declared Gjeloshaj.
According to him, the Albanian Forum is now the only Albanian political force that represents Albanians in all areas where they live in Montenegro.
"This is the only Albanian political entity in Montenegro that represents Albanians in all areas where they live, as we are present in several municipalities and are the first political address of Albanians. Our political responsibility and the will of the leaders was to create a strong Albanian political entity for the future, so that Albanians in Montenegro are even better represented," he said.
Gjeloshaj also used this moment to convey a broader message about the political unity of Albanians wherever they live.
"Absolutely. We as Albanians, wherever we are, often think of the words that we are not unique and we are not united. But we have decided to prove the opposite. We have set off in Tuz and are conveying a message to all Albanians: no process can be done alone. Without unity, without unification and without a common strategy, it is much more difficult to achieve the objectives," he said.
The unification of the three Albanian parties is seen as an important political moment not only for Albanians in Montenegro, but also as a new model of cooperation in the Albanian space, aiming for stronger institutional representation and a more unified voice in decision-making processes.
