Intense rainfall over the last 24 hours has caused a series of problems in the Korça region, putting local structures, civil emergencies and institutions responsible for managing the situation into action. According to reports from the field, more than five municipalities have faced local flooding, damage to road infrastructure and dangerously high water levels in rivers and reservoirs.
In the Municipality of Pustec, the water overflow on the Lajthizë–Liqenas road segment caused traffic difficulties, but the intervention of service teams has helped normalize the situation. Meanwhile, in Pogradec, the village of Geshtenjas recorded serious obstructions in the sewers, where work is being done to divert rainwater. OSHEE reported defects in several villages, including Slatina, Selihtë and Shpella, with teams on the ground to restore electricity.
The situation is more problematic in Devoll, where traffic on the bridge in the village of Çetë has been blocked due to increased danger. Meanwhile, in Cangonj, the presence of water in the yards of two apartments has required emergency intervention to remove it.
In Korça, the Denas-Lekas axis is impassable as high flows of an unbridged stream make the road dangerous. Voskopoja is another area under observation, as the local watershed has reached high levels, but interventions with heavy vehicles are stabilizing the situation.
Kolonja has also faced numerous challenges. The increase in flows in the river in the village of Mesička has endangered the bridge and electricity poles. Similar problems have been reported in the village of Mollas, while the Roti reservoir has reached only 20–30 cm below the maximum level, forcing the opening of the spillways. Interventions are continuing in several villages in the area, while some road axes have been cleared and are passable.
The National Water Resources Agency announces that on the Maliq-Lozhan, Ersekë–Leskovik and Qafa e Qarrit–Ersekë axes, works to clean and systemize water continue with intensity.
Despite these problems, authorities confirm that so far there are no situations that endanger the lives of residents, but many areas remain under constant monitoring due to high flows and rainfall that is expected to continue.

The flows of the Vjosa River in the village of Kashisht in Fier have reached a critical point.
According to residents, from this morning until noon the level has risen by over 1 meter, becoming a real risk for flooding agricultural lands.
With this intensity of flows, the risk of overflowing the riverbed is very high, they say, while emphasizing that they have not seen such a level of flows in 4 years.
"We are scared," say the residents, as the river has not caused any problems in the area for years, as they are monitoring the situation with alarm hour by hour. Meanwhile, the afternoon hours remain crucial, when high-intensity rainfall and large flows are expected that could create problematic situations.
According to the administrator of the Frakull administrative unit, Emiljano Braka, residents were notified in the early hours of the morning about the risk of flooding, and he stressed that if the river overflowed its banks, the damage that would be caused to farmers would be colossal.
Meanwhile, farmers are monitoring the situation on the ground with alarm. One of them claims that if Vjosa rises above its banks, it will be a real monster.
"We have a bitter experience from previous floods," he says, "where not only was there damage, but we were never compensated. We pray to God that there will be no floods, as it would take us two years to recover," says one of the residents.
