The sixth book of the journalist Xhovan Shyti, "Escape from the East to the West - In search of paradise", has taken place on the shelves of the annual book fair and the shelves of Tirana bookstores, which deals with the theme of "timeless refugeeism, which is depopulates the territories of poor countries", as the author quotes.
A remarkable book that makes a difference, among the river of publications, for the professionalism in the way of composition, for the style but also for the wonderful Albanian language, with which it conveys the subject.
Consisting of two parts distant in terms of time, but sharing the theme and the idea of escaping from the East to the West in search of paradise, the book comes as a novelty in the world of Albanian literary creativity, enriching it in a worthy way. All the more it comes as a desirable and welcome value if you take into account that the escape of the eastern populations is the trend not only of the Albanians, who, even today after three decades, continue to have the alternative of abandoning their motherland, but it is also a phenomenon of other peoples of the East. Not only of the former communist East, whose wall the West demolished thirty years ago, leaving the waste uncleaned, but also of other Easts. Asian, African, Oriental, etc. births put to an end by the satraps of the powers.
The cohesion of refugeeism, as an alternative of salvation from the eastern hell to the western paradise, makes the undertaking of the author Shyti even more sensitive, who, in a confident pronouncement, affirms that he did not choose the current time of the book's publication by chance.
"I decided to publish it now because the refugee phenomenon, contrary to my prediction of a reduction, took on alarming proportions, as it continues to have the same alert as we speak, even marking a record number of escapes, tragedies and human lives lost in the depths of the seas "...
The first part of the book (or "The first book", as the author calls it), deals with experienced events, which come served in the form of a refugee's diary, behind which hides the author himself who has experienced everything he brings.
Meanwhile, in the second part of the book, the tragedy increases its dimension by raising the human pain to a crescendo.
History, events, statistics, analysis, comments, characters who narrate the pain experienced, black chronicles and... Is it hoped that there will be a happy end to the phenomenon, which with the dream of touching the western "paradise", is emptying the territories of the eastern populations, turning into a worldwide virus?
