He is the son of Abaz Xhaferr Shehu from Salaria, who in the memory of the Tepelena people of the entire South area, has remained "Symbol of humanity, honesty and manliness"; as well as the grandson of "Dera e Madhe" and the respected patriot Xhaferr Shehu; of the late poet Novruz Shehu and the doctor Sefer Shehu, who for 52 years continues to serve with dedication and humanity the residents of Memaliaj and the district of Tepelena...

This weekend, in Memaliaj, Fatri Abaz Shehu, known throughout the south of Albania and by foreign tourists who have seen and received his works, such as "Tiri" who collected, died of a serious illness at the age of 56 , restored and re-produced only by hand, folk heritage costumes of 300-400 years old for all ages.

Fatri Abaz Shehu, the master of costumes of the folk heritage of Labëria, Toskëria, Çamëria and other ethnicities in Vlorë, Tepelën, Gjirokastër, Përmet, Sarandë, and even Erseke, knew, treated, preserved and re-produced with care every element of inherited traditional and historical.

Helped by his wife Mimoza Shehu and the two municipalities of Memaliaj-Tepelena, he collected, restored and re-produced many traditional clothes of the polyphonic groups of the area, clothes of Ali Pasha, warriors and their leaders such as Tafil Buzi, Çerçiz Topulli, Hodo Nivica, Selam Musai and traditional clothing characteristic of the inhabitants of the southern areas.

He is the first and only artisan in Albania who has reproduced with complete precision the costume worn by the great English poet Lord George Byron when he visited the palaces of Ali Pasha and during his return to London and home.

"Master Tiri", as he was known, hand-made a 1700-1800 Tepelena clothing, commissioned by the great Hollywood actor, the Englishman Rupert Everett; who went to the castle of Tepelena, as a follower of the historical trail of Lord Byron's visit.

Hundreds of traditional clothes restored and made by him, with the skill of the best artisan of the South region, are in families, schools, cultural centers and are used in the activities of Albanian immigrants around the world, but also of many foreign Albanian families in Kosovo. Macedonia, Montenegro, USA, England, Italy, Sweden, Turkey and even Australia.
