Actor Nik Xhelilaj, who also played the role of the famous director Piro Milkani, in the autobiographical film 'The Sorrow of Mrs. Schneider', has spoken about the loss of the great artist. In an interview for 'Pardon my French', the actor has also revealed details from his life, career, and upcoming projects.
Nik Xhelilaj's first contact with cinematography was with director Piro Milkani.
How did you hear the news of his passing?
It's strange how much influence Piro had, even though I don't visit Albania often, but I'm talking about my artistic journey. I had him as a good omen, as a kind of talisman. Every time I was here, but even when I wasn't, I had to contact him. Not only as a director, but for me it was a spiritual loss because I had a very parental relationship with art. A great man both professionally and as a person. He did something that when you think about it today, it seems somewhat unbelievable.
The actor also added:
To entrust a student with almost zero experience in front of the cinema with such an important role, not only for Piro but also for Albanian cinema, as one of the good films, "The Sorrow of Mrs. Shnajder". I certainly had a sadness, even though at an advanced age, so to speak. He had a nature that you couldn't believe, because he would always be there with that kindness, his phone call and his motivation.
For me it is a loss, I have always had him as one of the biggest fans, supporters and supporters of my work. Both here and abroad.
